VIEW FROM THE RUINS OF JEZREEL
View towards Mount Tabor and Nazareth The biblical people who lived in Jezreel - Elijah, Jezebel, Naboth, and Ahab, all saw much the same view as this, when they looked out across the city walls. This is where the terrible, dramatic story of their lives happened. Of course the city was intact then, a thriving administrative center for the northern kingdom of Israel. It outshone the insignificant capital of southern Judah, Jerusalem. It was richer, more powerful and influential. At the time of Jezebel and Ahab, the city was just past its zenith. It had been capital of Israel, but would soon be replaced by the newly built city of Samaria. Now it lies in ruins.
