MASSACRE VICTIM
Drowned body of a Burmese monk Burmese monks and holy men were massacred, and their bodies dumped in a nearby river, after an attempted overthrow of the government. The photograph above shows one of the victims. This is all too similar to the massacre at the Wadi Kishon, where Elijah and his supporters killed the four hundred priests of Baal after the confrontation on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18). The Bible presents the massacre as the result of a religious struggle between the priests of Baal and the prophet of Yahweh. But religion and politics were inextricably linked in Old Testament times, and the struggle for supremacy was constant and ruthless.
